FILBo 2026 Professional Sessions Strengthened Editorial Exchange and International Collaboration
Bogotá, May 2026. The 38th edition of the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo), held from April 21 to May 4, welcomed 563,000 visitors around the central theme "Listening to One Another Is Reading One Another." This year, India participated as the Guest Country of Honor and Boyacá as the Guest Region of Honor, further consolidating FILBo's position as one of the most important cultural and publishing events in Latin America.
Organized jointly by Corferias and the Colombian Book Chamber, the fair offered a diverse academic, cultural, and commercial program. Within this framework, the Professional Sessions served as a strategic platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and business development among key stakeholders in the book industry. Participants explored the challenges, opportunities, and innovations shaping the publishing sector at the national, regional, and global levels.
One of the most significant components of these sessions was the Fellowship Program, an initiative designed to foster sustainable business relationships and strengthen professional networks among publishers, literary agents, scouts, distributors, and librarians from around the world and their counterparts in Colombia. The 2026 edition featured the participation of Prashant Pathak (India), Pavlína Juracková (Czech Republic), Roland Heinrich Spahr (Germany), Luiza Lewkowicz (Brazil), Mari Laan (Estonia), and James Patterson (Canada), who contributed to building international partnerships and exploring new opportunities for collaboration across the publishing ecosystem.
In addition to the participation of these fellows and scouts, publishing professionals attended a wide range of conferences, workshops, and discussion forums addressing topics such as book distribution and commercialization, digital publishing formats, rights sales, literary translation, and emerging market trends.
